A Comparative Study of the Naturalistic Perspectives

Abstract

In the academic context where ecological criticism theory has emerged, the comparative space for expressing the naturalistic perspectives of Chinese landscape poetry and British Romantic poetry has shifted. This article takes the works of Chinese landscape poets such as Wang Wei and Xie Lingyun, as well as British Romantic poets such as Wordsworth and Coleridge as research subjects. It approaches the study from three dimensions: natural imagery, the relationship between humans and nature, and ecological ethics. It systematically compares the construction strategies of naturalistic perspectives in these two literary traditions. However, it cannot fully cover all the poetic texts. The research reveals that Chinese landscape poetry emphasizes the harmonious coexistence of nature and humans through the philosophical concept of "harmony between heaven and man", and embodies the aesthetic realm of the integration of object and subject. While British Romantic poetry emphasizes the role of nature in transcending the spiritual salvation of humanity through the integration of natural grandeur and individual emotions. Such research provides strong support for ecological criticism studies.
