A Visual Political StudyAbstract
In the context of the increasingly visualized image dissemination on social media, image filters have gradually transformed into an important medium for reshaping the visual experience and aesthetic practices of urban youth. This paper takes the "Ins style" filters as the research object, analyzing their technical mechanisms, cultural logic, and aesthetic effects from a visual political perspective. It explores how image filters, through standardized visual paradigms, influence the aesthetic judgment and identity recognition of urban youth. It cannot fully cover all types of filters. The research finds that "Ins style" filters, through the programmatic processing of color composition and atmosphere, construct a homogenized visual landscape, strengthening the collusion relationship of consumerist digital aesthetics. Such research provides strong support for visual culture studies. This study expands the theoretical boundaries of visual culture research, offers a new theoretical perspective for understanding the complex interactions between digital technology, visual politics, and youth culture, and is of great value for reflecting on contemporary visual culture practices and aesthetic education.
