Abstract

Abstract:

Against the backdrop of the innovation-driven development strategy, disruptive innovation is a key path for enterprises to gain competitive advantages, and research has shifted to a cognitive perspective. As the core of strategic decision - making, the cognitive characteristics of the executive team impact innovation resource allocation. Based on the attention - based perspective, this paper uses Chinese A - share listed companies from 2010 to 2020 as samples to empirically examine the mechanism and path of the impact of executive team cognitive diversity on enterprises' disruptive innovation input. Findings show that executive team cognitive diversity significantly promotes enterprises' investment in disruptive innovation by broadening information - processing breadth, enhancing environmental scanning capabilities, and facilitating diverse information integration. However, team conflict risk needs attention. Environmental dynamics positively moderate the relationship, while organizational redundancy weakens the positive effect of cognitive diversity, but the regulatory mechanism can't be fully explained. This research provides a theoretical basis for optimizing the executive team structure and enhancing enterprises' disruptive innovation capabilities. It reveals from a cognitive perspective the internal mechanism of the executive team's influence on enterprises' innovation strategy, and industry heterogeneity remains to be further explored.
